Woodward & Kelley, PLLC was founded in 2002 by Philip C.
Woodward and Marikate E. Kelley. The
firm has a state-wide civil-law practice.
The firm’s litigation practice is largely dedicated to the defense of
claims against municipalities, insurance coverage disputes and professional
liability claims. Our transactions
practice is performed on behalf of lending institutions, corporate and
individual clients. The firm has a
longstanding commitment to the design and implementation of cost-effective
strategies to solving problems and achieving identified objectives.
Philip C. Woodward
Mr.
Woodward is an experienced trial attorney with
over two decades of experience.
His practice is state-wide and comprised exclusively of civil
litigation. Mr. Woodward enjoys a
particular focus on the defense of governmental liability claims, insurance
defense and coverage analysis, as well as construction litigation, including
defense of professional liability claims against architects and engineers. Mr. Woodward brings his substantial
experience to the overall management of contentious disputes, and has earned a
strong reputation for achieving the successful resolution of conflict whether
by trial or alternative dispute resolution.
Mr.
Woodward is a summa cum laude graduate
of the University of Maine School of Law where he served as Notes Editor to the
Maine Law Review, and a magna
cum laude graduate of the University of Vermont.
Marikate
E. Kelley
Ms.
Kelley is an experienced general practitioner.
Her areas of practice include general civil litigation with a focus on
defense of governmental liability claims as well as personal injury litigation,
primarily representing plaintiffs. She
also provides services in the areas of estate planning and probate, corporate
law, adoptions, collection and foreclosure, and transactional work. Ms. Kelley
serves as a foreclosure mediator.
Ms.
Kelley is an alumna of Boston College and the University of Maine School
of Law. She is a former law clerk to the
New Hampshire Superior Court and former adjunct professor at Johnson State
College and Community College of Vermont where she has taught, among other
subjects, Constitutional and Business Law.
